Edgewater Drive

This screened porch was designed to provide the homeowners with a comfortable outdoor living space that embraces the natural beauty of the lakefront setting. The new addition extends the interior living area outward while maintaining the integrity and character of the original mid-century modern home.

Although the structure appears simple and seamless, the project posed significant challenges due to the property’s location within a Resource Protection Area and its multiple overlapping easements. Navigating the complex approval process required special permits, coordination with county officials, public hearings, and several on-site reviews to ensure compliance with environmental and zoning regulations.

Despite these hurdles, the final design integrates effortlessly with the existing architecture—so much so that neighbors have often remarked it looks as though it has always been part of the home. The result is a timeless, functional space that enhances both the form and function of the residence, providing the clients with a tranquil and protected connection to the outdoors.
